Welcome back to another exciting episode of Trader Steve’s journey across Gielinor! Today, we’re diving deep into Trader Steve’s quest to collect rare items and unlock new chunks in Old School RuneScape (OSRS). Our ultimate goal? To obtain the coveted quest cave. So, buckle up as we take you through Trader Steve’s adventures, from enhancing Barrows efficiency to unlocking the hot air balloon transport system.
Improving Barrows Efficiency
In our previous episode, we made significant strides in Mauritania and ventured into the Barrows chunk. As we continue our quest, our priority is to enhance Barrows efficiency. We began with basic Barrows runs, but to optimize our process, we needed to address two key issues: prayer restoration and efficient teleportation.
Investing in Construction
To tackle these issues, we decided to invest in Construction. With a high-level house, we can build a chapel and an altar, allowing us to restore our prayer points quickly and efficiently. Moreover, a mounted Glory will enable us to teleport back to Edgeville seamlessly.
With 45 Construction achieved, we set about building our chapel and altar. This upgrade is crucial for streamlining our Barrows runs, making them more effective and less time-consuming.
The Strange Old Lockpick
In addition to improving our Construction level, we also acquired a Strange Old Lockpick. This item costs 150,000 OSRS gold and comes with 50 charges, each allowing us to unlock any door in the Barrows Crypt. This will save us significant time during our Barrows runs, allowing us to focus on hunting for rare items.
Barrows Loot: A Mixed Bag
With our improvements in place, we set off for Barrows chest number 42. Our luck varied, with several 300K items like Guthan’s Warspear and Torag’s Platelegs gracing our collection log. Despite the mixed loot, we were thrilled to see valuable items like Rock’s Platelegs worth around 1 million gold.
In the quest to collect rare items, duplicates are inevitable. For example, we already owned some items like Doric’s Platelegs. In such cases, we sell duplicates to fund new acquisitions, ensuring our collection remains diverse and valuable.
Expanding Horizons: From Remington to Taverly
Having accumulated around 3 million gold, it was time to invest in unlocking new chunks. Our next goal is to access Taverly and enhance our Herblore skills. To achieve this, we need to complete the Druidic Ritual quest and unlock the North and South Taverly chunks.
Choosing the Optimal Route
We explored several routes to reach Taverly. One option was to travel north from Draenor Farm Patch through Falador, which would require unlocking five chunks. Alternatively, we considered using the charter ship route via Catherby, also involving five chunks but offering chartered transport.
Ultimately, we decided to unlock the hot air balloon transportation system, which requires the Enlightened Journey quest. This route requires only three chunks to unlock and offers efficient transport across Gielinor, making it a strategic choice for our journey.
The Enlightened Journey Quest
To unlock the hot air balloon transport system, we needed to complete the Enlightened Journey quest. This quest required 20 Firemaking and 20 Quest Points. We tackled these requirements by completing several quests, including Sheep Herder, Imp Catcher, and Witch’s Potion, to gather the necessary Quest Points.
Training Firemaking
Firemaking training was a significant part of our preparation for the Enlightened Journey quest. We used fire lighters to speed up early levels, eventually reaching 50 Firemaking. This level allows us to burn Maple logs efficiently, which will be useful for future activities.
Unlocking New Chunks: Taverly and Beyond
With Enlightened Journey complete, we unlocked the hot air balloon system and the South Taverly chunk. This chunk provides access to valuable resources such as the Taverly Dungeon, which is essential for Slayer training. Additionally, we gained access to the Herb Lore store and the Crystal Chest, offering more opportunities for money-making and skill development.
Future Goals: Herblore and the Quest Cave
Our primary objective now is to unlock Herblore by completing the Druidic Ritual quest. This will require unlocking the North Taverly chunk and possibly investing in additional resources. Our ultimate goal remains to obtain the quest cave, a significant milestone in Trader Steve’s journey across Gielinor.
Conclusion
Trader Steve’s journey continues with exciting developments and strategic investments. From enhancing Barrows efficiency to unlocking new chunks and exploring the hot air balloon transportation system, our adventures in OSRS are ever-evolving.
